It’s the most wonderful time of the year!! Besides warm weather, spring breaks and gorgeous colorful blooms the time has come for the Charlottesville’s Design House. The Shelter for Help in Emergency is presenting a wonderful 1950’s house that has been extended over the years to accommodate a growing family. The stunning estate is located again in the beautifully landscaped community of Farmington. The 5 bedroom home sits in a wooded lot that includes a gazebo and secret garden.
The 2014 Charlottesville Design House will run from May 3rd-May 18th and tickets are available at our Richmond and Charlottesville stores. Tickets are $20 per person and all of the proceeds go directly to the Shelter.
We have a fantastic line up of generous partners to help complete our look. We were so grateful, last year, to our partners and they have all return to participate for this great cause.
Yves Delorme – fine bedding and linens
Chasen Gallery – Local and International artists
Shades of Light – Lighting
Patina Antiques – Fine furniture and accessories
J. Bryan Carr – Wallpaper and painter
We are wrappings things up in the guest room and en-suite, but we wanted to inform you of some of the other things that you can participate in during this exciting event.
First off, U-Fab is holding a seminar to discuss how to customize your bed from the boxspring up! Join Kendall and Will who will be discussing duvets, bedspreads, comforters, and all things bedding on Saturday May 3rd at 10:30 AM. The seminar is included the price of admission.
The second event is our U-fab Wine & Design take-over. We have reserved a night in the home exclusively for our U-Fam friends and family on Wednesday, May 14th from 5pm – 7 pm. We will have hors d’oeuvre, wine & champagne as Kendall, Travis and Room Designer Will, give you a tour of our room and the rest of the home. If that drive seems daunting, don’t fret, because we can all ride up together should you let us know you would like to carpool. If you decide to come up for the evening, U-Fab will buy half of your ticket, so tickets will only be $10 for our take-over. If you are interested in joining us,
Please RSVP Here.
Even if you cannot make one of our special events we hope you make it to the design house this year, we have a beautiful room and adjoining bath that we couldn’t be more excited to reveal and the neighboring talent in this gorgeous home is worthy of magazine spreads!! Not to mention all proceeds go towards a very deserving cause.
About the Shelter
The Shelter for Help in Emergency’s mission is to end domestic violence in our community. For over thirty years, the Shelter has committed to providing a safe, confidential, and respectful environment in which survivors of domestic violence are empowered with the knowledge of personal and community resources as well as the skills needed to make informed decisions for themselves and for their families.
The Shelter for Help in Emergency is the only agency in Planning District Ten (City of Charlottesville and the five surrounding counties of Albemarle, Greene, Fluvanna, Louisa and Nelson) providing comprehensive services to women and children who are victims of violence within their home or relationship. Offering services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the Shelter utilizes professional staff and trained volunteers to carry out program goals. Shelter services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, supportive counseling, case management services, court advocacy and accompaniment, services and support to the Spanish-speaking community, educational groups, allied professional training and consultation. The 24-hour hotline is available for crisis intervention and referral assistance. Women and children needing a safe place to escape the violence in their home may seek temporary, emergency housing through the residential facility. Abused men are offered support services and temporary emergency shelter in a safe alternative location.
Your Design House events sound wonderful! I am a long-time Shelter supporter and know they do important work in our community; thank you for doing so much to support such a worthy cause. Your space in last year’s house was beautiful, and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us this year!
Thank you Carol! We are so happy to be a part of something contributing to such a deserving cause.
