It’s Showtime!

June 6, 2013 by admin

Twice a year we get the exciting privilege of heading to High Point North Carolina, and participating in Showtime, the largest home textile show in the United States. We spend about three days from sun up to sun down, shopping till we drop. We love bringing the latest and greatest fabrics to our stores, and this season’s fabric market didn’t disappoint.

Here is a sneak peak at some items we were coveting, and some we passed on.

We really liked these mitered pillows. They show how to make a stripe or plaid way more fun.
Another mitered pillow and one with a fun gusset.
This is one of the “Trend Forecast” displays. Highlighting vivid blues with lots of gold and metallic tones. In our stores this trend is already in full force but I guess the it’s just emerging in the most of the furniture industry.
Another “Trend Forecast” setting this one was highlighting Warm Metallics
Poster for the Verdant Green “Trend Forecast”
The room setting for “Trend Forecasting” Verdant Green. This trend was all over the show as we saw lots of great new greens.
Some really fun colorful bands from Amy Butler. We bought some of these as well as some others buy Kaffe Fasset and other great designers.
I liked this jewel toned suzani fabric, Will not as much what do you think?
They had the annual Fashion Show featuring clothing made from home decor fabrics. (Yes those are skulls)
A groovier part of the fashion show.
We got to meet HGTV’s Sarah Richardson. She was unbelievably friendly and sweet. We bought some of her new fabric line. (see pictures below)
We didn’t buy this vintage airplane embroidery, however this particular mill is willing to let us do our own custom embroidered fabric we just have to come up with the idea. Do you have any great ideas for a U-Fab exclusive embroidered fabric??
No we didn’t buy this moose fabric (much to my wife’s chagrin). Do you think anyone on the east coast would actually put this in their house?
A very bright wild jacquard. I honestly don’t remember if we bought it.
We jumped at this fun color story in great heavy upholstery jaquards.
Color story continued.
One of our vendors displays
Another great color combo on an upholstery jacquard. This one will be in stores later this summer.
New Dwell Studio collection. All of these and more are on order.
I didn’t love this dragon pattern at first but the more I looked at it the more I liked it. In stores soon.
We passed on the dragon with the navy background. Did we make the right call?
This pattern is huge and frankly a little weird. We passed.
We are still debating a few of these. We loved the diamond ikat, the middle one looked great on the chairs in the showroom and we just aren’t sure on the dip dyed (or tie dye for the non industry folks) look.
We liked the scale and color on this Ikat. I unfortunatley forgot to take a picture of it on the sofa in the showroom. It is on order.
I really like the retro feel of this embroidered fabric. Time will tell if you all love it too.
Another shot of the retro emboridery.
This is an inexpensive line of bands that we are considering.
Sarah Richardson collection mood board for the soft orange color way.
Sara Richardson green and lavender color story.
Sarah Richardson soft orange and grey color story.
Sarah Richardson collection. These are the ones we settled on buying.
Better shot of the Sarah Richardson print.
Will loved this, me not so much. I think we passed for now. What do you guys think?
We really liked this lace like matlessee’ish fabric. It almost looks like they took your grandma’s fine doilies and applied it to the fabric. According to a few of our vendors the most recent European show featured a ton of lace look like this and they think it will be a big trend soon. We agree as we bought this color and an ivory. What do you think?
One of our vendors displays.
Vendor display.
Our most stylish sales rep. He has over 50 pairs of wild and crazy shoes and always a belt or shirt to match. He said he has them on about an every five year rotation for market.
Pictures can’t do this fabric justice. This fabic is almost like an old Afghan with it’s wool like woven fibers. It has an unbelievable amount of texture and interest. You should see it in store soon.
This ridiculous fabric is aptly named “Best in Show”, we passed on it but I have a strange feeling it might actually sell.
I’m on the fence about this one, Will hates it. It is a new IMAN fabric that is printed on a velvetish fabric. What do you think? Too bold?

So what do you think? Do you think we made the right decisions? Click the photo to leave your thoughts, or just leave one below!

Probably not much interest in the moose design fabric.

Probably not much interest in the moose design fabric. This is the first comment I have made on this fabric.
