I recently became a mentor for an outstanding cause, SOHO (Space of Her Own). SOHO connects twelve 12-year-old girls, with twelve younger women mentors in a year long program at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. We will participate in weekly art workshops exploring all of the wonderful studio’s throughout the Visual Arts Center. In the end, our artwork will be incorporated in a really great makeover of the girls’ bedrooms.

Anywho, with this fun and exciting project, comes a challenge, how to create a vision for my girls space that we can work to achieve each week. My special little lady mentioned to me that her favorite colors are Pink and Purple. This seems very typical of girls at this age, so the possibilities are endless. I decided to give us a focus and create a few inspirational mood boards to show her at our meeting this week. I figure this is the perfect venue to share these boards as well, as our readers may have teenage girls at home that they would love a little inspiration for a fun room makeover. So without further ado, my vision(s) for T’s space.
1. Pink Patterned Perfection
This board is the pinkest of them all, and features four patters of varying scales. In my opinion it is a strong contender for my girls heart.
2. Warm up to purple
Shades of purple, magenta, and orange are the highlight of this board. It is my personal favorite board, and how I would choose to decorate her space, but it might be a couple years before she is ready to embrace the orange color scheme.
3. Turquoise Temptation
This room would be fabulous should she choose it. The cooler blues and blacks give the space a more mature feel, while the playful patterns remind her it’s time to have a little fun.
4. Literal Coveted Colors
She asked for pink and purple, and it doesn’t get any more pink and purple than in this board, a few neutral colors give this room a great transition from pre-teen to young adult.
5. Bright Pink & White
This room feels fresh and clean, a space full of personality and fun colors certain to give any young lady a retreat to be proud of.
So what room do you think she will choose? Leave a response in the poll below. I’ll be back next week to update you on which room she chose and why!
