This year we decided to sponsor Fetch-A-Cure, a great charity benefiting pets with cancer and their treatments. Not only do they raise awareness and treatments for pets with cancer, they also help rescue dogs and help provide them training from local prison inmates through their Pen Pals program. The program not only lowers the rate of euthanasia in Virginia’s city dog shelters, but also provides life skills to the inmates who are responsible for training the rescues.
Every year, the sponsor’s of Fetch a Cure receive a large 4″ by 3″ steel dog to paint. The dogs then go on parade all around the city to raise awareness before retiring to their forever homes at their business sponsor. Here is a little video of their Pups on Parade for you to enjoy:
This year, U-Fab decided to take the artistic endeavor of the steel dog one step further by upholstering it.
Meet Fab-io. Our new U-Fab office dog. We hope you’re not allergic to fine fabric!
Here is his Band-Aid to recognize he stands for treatment to pets with cancer.
His front profile is so slender, and complimented by his 3″ zipper closure. Have you ever seen a zipper with teeth as wide as a quarter?
Here is a view of his other side. He’s ready for spring with this fun color scheme! He also is standing on Green Sparkle Vinyl Grass and has a bone and ball to play with.
Who could ever say no to those adorable button eyes and floppy ears.
Here is a detail of his meticulously embroidered coat. All the work on Fab-io was completed by our amazingly talented seamstress, Karin Newton.
For the rest of the month, he will be residing at Pink in carytown. Please go visit him and he doesn’t mind if you give him a scratch behind the ears while you’re at it.
Also please mark your calendars for the 6th Annual Pets on Parade Benefit Auction Friday, June 7th at Tredegar Iron Works 7pm to 10pm. Please Click here to get tickets to this great and charitable event.
My favorite kind of dog – beautiful coat, no shedding, no drooling, , stays put!
