u-fabulous 2014 RSOL Design House Room – Artistic Ambiance

Whew! The 2014 Richmond Symphony Orchestra League designer house has come and gone in what feels like a blink of an eye. U-Fab was fortunate to get the first floor guest bedroom and our Creative Director, William Thomas Chambers, designed a room a little close to home. In fact, inspiration came directly across the street from our home base store on Robinson Street, the home of the GRTC street art installation. We watched and were inspired for months as this art installation unfolded into a bustling space filled with distinct points of view by the fabulous mural artists. William took our inspiration and translated into our first Richmond (RSOL) design house room.

Our room was inspired and designed around the GRTC Street art installation, bold, graphic and full of culture with photos of the installation splashed in for good measure.

The #ufabulous colorful chevron rug is made of recycled t-shirts.

Hot-pink, maroon and bold turquoise are the primary colors in our rainbow-textiled room framed by double pinch pleat drapes in a gorgeous textured grey fabric.

Try adding double banding for a fun look on your window treatments. (109-TG605-Fuschia Banding ($14.99/yd).

Saturated flowers in elegant hand blown glass vases (c/o Modern Artifacts) add softness to the space. Being placed on top of a concrete end table (c/o LaDiff) is another nod to our street art inspiration.

The devil’s in the details. Did you notice the multicolored buttons and contrast trim on our upholstered bench?

For a detail oriented look try using striped fabric (106-Vill-Charcoal (22.99/yd)) to create a custom mitered pillow.

A feathered pendant light (Vita EOS XL Pendant with cord -$512 – LaDiff) gives a clean softness to the space.

The soft texture is even more evident when the pendant is in use.

Details of our custom plush bedding and hand picked stitching on the silk quilt.

Our custom silk quilts come in a variety of weights and with several pattern options (we can even trace shapes in your fabric of choice).

I spy U-Fab’s Robinson St. Location!! In this gorgeous print by Bill Dickinson available at Modern Artifacts. It was actually originally a panoramic that William split to flank each side of the bed, as this is where our inspiration truly was spurred.

Patina Antiques of Charlottesville also furnished some of our fun accessories such as the crystal ball on the stand. While the concrete bowls came from Modern Artifacts.

Our en-suite has a fun pop of color (that matches our trey ceiling paint) and that fun alligator with a top hat is care of Patina Antiques.
