The historic Taylor Estate on Monument Avenue is the site of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League's 2023 Designer House fundraising event. Pictured is the mansion's front door, which features iron work and intricate columns.

From the Richmond Symphony League:

“This gorgeous house was designed by the renowned architect, Duncan Lee in an Italian Renaissance Revival style. Originally built in 1915 and owned by Jaquelin Plummer Taylor, the Taylor Estate boasts two gardensdesigned by the prominent landscape architect, Charles Freeman Gillette. The house is in the Monument Avenue Historic District, and this will be the first opportunity for the public to tour the home. The beautiful proportions and details of this exquisite home will fascinate and inspire you.”

(We’ve already gotten a few sneak peeks of the Taylor Estate and can confirm: it’s IMPRESSIVE.)

The Richmond Symphony League is a volunteer organization that supports the Richmond Symphony through fundraising, education, and community involvement. Designer House is their signature event, occurring every two years. For each Designer House, the RSL selects a large host home and invites local designers to compete for the opportunity to decorate one of the many spaces inside and outside the home, donating their time and materials. More information about the Taylor Estate is available on the Richmond Symphony League’s website, along with photos of past Designer Houses.

We’re honored to have been selected as one of this year’s designers alongside so many talented local design groups, and we can’t wait to invite you inside next month.

The Taylor Estate will be open to the public on September 11, 2023, and will remain open through October 9, 2023. The month-long event features daily general admission tours, an on-site café and a boutique where local artisans sell items like clothing, jewelry, accessories, home goods, stationery and crafts.
