2023 Designer House Room Reveal: A Symphony of Design

It's been a month since the 2023 Designer House concluded, yet its lasting impression lives on! Today, we invite you to revisit the stunning transformation of the Taylor Estate's Formal Living Room, led by the talented Will Chambers. From the carefully curated color palette to the intricately detailed cornices, every element contributed to an unforgettable design narrative. Join us as we take a look back at this remarkable showcase of collaboration and design.

The Room in Harmony

The carefully curated color palette of burgundy, deep wine, forest green, ivory, and gold worked its magic, creating a harmonious symphony that echoed the theme of "breathing new life into a historic home." The deep red tones resonated with classic design elements, infusing the space with a sense of history and richness. The forest green brought a refreshing contrast and a connection to nature, complemented by the living greenery and floral arrangements designed by Ana Conceicao. Ivory served as a neutral backdrop, allowing the other colors to shine, and gold accents added a touch of luxury and sophistication, reminiscent of Art Deco opulence.

Intricately Detailed Cornices: A Work of Art

Undoubtedly stealing the spotlight, the custom-shaped and intricately detailed cornices became the stars of the Formal Living Room. Designed in collaboration with Diana Vicenti, and crafted with precision by our in-house fabricators Jeff Timlin and Karin Newton, these architectural marvels elevated the room to new heights. Their intricate design showcased Will's commitment to blending classic elegance with a refreshed perspective, leaving visitors captivated throughout the month-long event. (In a testament to their undeniable allure, we’ve been asked to recreate them for several inspired clients since Designer House ended last month!)

Wesley Hall Sofas: Upholstered Luxury

Throughout the room, the furniture pieces—carefully selected from manufacturers like Wesley Hall, Lee Industries, and Modern History—added layers of sophistication. Notably, The Wesley Hall sofas added a touch of luxury to the room. Their seamlessly integrated updated and contemporary design achieved a perfect balance between comfort and style, effortlessly blending traditional and modern elements.

Original Tapestry: A Thoughtful Homage

Preserving the room’s original tapestry was a heartfelt gesture, honoring the space's history while seamlessly blending with the new design and color palette. It served as a stunning backdrop for a collection of frames and vessels from Curated Furnishings, along with a breathtaking floral arrangement.

Beyond the Formal Living Room

As visitors explored the Designer House, they were met with a room after room of beautifully redesigned spaces from the talented Central Virginia community. The collaborative effort of designers showcased the incredible depth of creativity within Richmond's design community, turning the Taylor Estate into a visual symphony for all.
